There’s no better time than the end of the year to convert your garage into your own personal workout space! Garage gyms have been so popular over the last few years and the winter season is the best time to turn your own garage into your gym. Follow these 4 steps to transform your space!

Empty Your Garage

First you’ll need to create an open area. Take out all your belongings and sort through them to figure out what needs to stay and what can go. Make piles for give away and for trash/recycle. Seeing how much square footage you have in your garage allows you to know how much space you want to keep for storage and how much you can dedicate to your gym. If you have more items than you’re able to store, call us up! We’ll be happy to help with one of our storage units.

Decide on Equipment

What kind of workouts do you prefer? Cardio, weight training, dance, HIIT? Your garage gym is full of opportunities! Bring in large equipment such as multi-functional units and treadmills or keep it simple with barbells and medicine balls. Furthermore, a mirror is a necessity for your gym to ensure you’re positioning yourself correctly! Grab some bins while you’re out and about as well to keep your equipment organized.

Make it Functional

The best part about a garage gym is its functionality. Depending on how you choose to use the space, you can put down an exercise mat which holds up under the weight of your car so that you can still park inside. Or, if you prefer to do a variety of workouts, you can create separate spaces for cardio, weight lifting, and stretching.

Workout

Now that you’ve cleared out your garage, filled it with your favorite equipment, and set it up in a functional way, it’s time to get your sweat on! Grab a family member or a friend who can come enjoy your new garage gym this season.
